Senior Forward Deployed Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Take on complex, loosely defined technical problems and find the right solution quickly
• Build and benchmark proofs of concept to test architectures and new technologies before wider adoption
• Work across the full stack, from back-end performance and cloud reliability to front-end prototypes
• Assess architectural options, including microservices and distributed system patterns
• Work across several programming languages and cloud platforms, choosing the right tool for each problem
• Write up findings, trade-offs and recommendations clearly for technical leadership
• Hand over clean, maintainable, well-documented solutions to the engineering teams that will run them
• Build strong working relationships with product and engineering teams across the business

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience building complex, high-performance systems
• Working fluency in several languages, such as C#, TypeScript, Python, Java or C++
• Solid knowledge of distributed systems, multi-tenant design and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS or GCP)
• Practical experience with generative AI APIs, RAG / vector search or AI-assisted development tools
• Comfortable working on your own and making progress when requirements are unclear
• Clear, concise communicator who can explain technical decisions to senior stakeholders
